Marbella mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, was in Madrid, along with Tourism Councillor, José Luis Hernández, for the TripAdvisor Travellers' Choice award ceremony, where Marbella was named the seventh best tourist destination in Spain.

The mayor said that this "is an important recognition of the excellent quality of Marbella's tourism, infrastructure and services, including gastronomy, leisure activities and shopping".

Muñoz highlighted that this "is the first time that Marbella has been ranked amongst the ten best tourist destinations in Spain", and underlined that "TripAdvisor is the most frequently used tourism website, with more than 260 million visitors per month, and around 50 millions comments posted per year".

The sixth edition of the Traveller's Choice prize winners were chosen from the following Spanish destinations: Barcelona, Madrid, Seville, Granada, Corralejo, Málaga, Marbella, Calviá, Córdoba and Sóller.
