Enrique Pérez, from the Marbella Football Centre, one of the proposed potential training locations, was also in attendance at the meeting.
Javier Porcuna explained that there are already teams that are based in other parts of Spain but are looking to relocate to Marbella on account of its numerous assets such as its climate and wide array of hotels.
Proof of the economic advantages of hosting footballers and their fans also come from Football Impact, who have managed the majority of the clubs that come to train on the Costa del Sol. The company points out that, collectively, footballers spend up to 46,000 nights in hotels and rented accommodation around the province. The income received from this is then compounded by the thousands of fans that also pay to watch the matches and spend a few days on the coast.
