The Mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, received the Ambassadors and representatives of the diplomatic corps from 19 European Union countries at the City’s Hall of Commissions, who were on a visit here.

The Mayor underlined"Marbella’s international image, in this particular instance at the European level" pointing out that "we live in an open city which boasts 140 nationalities among registered residents, confirming it is one of the most interesting places both to visit and in which to invest".

Therefore, Muñoz explained, "the relationship Town Hall maintains with Ambassadors and Consuls is very important" detailing that "as a result of this work, we selflessly provide space in the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos so Consulsmay carry out theirduties while having no permanentoffice in the city, making it possible that our foreign residents can deal locally with their Embassies".

The Mayor, who was accompanied by the Councillor for Tourism, José Luis Hernández, thanked the Embassy and the Consulate of Latvia for the tasks it carried out and for selecting Marbella within its work mandate, pointing out that the European Union rotates it Presidency every six months and currently corresponds to Latvia, and included the City as part of organising this event.

In this context, the European Delegation included representatives from countries such as Germany, France, Austria, Sweden and Poland, and was led by the Ambassador of Latvia, Jannis Eichmanis, and Fausto Martínez, itsHonorary Consul.
